Inspired by Emma’s ‘True Cost of Running‘ post, I thought I’d keep track of all my triathlon related expenses for the year. Obviously it’s not been a normal year in terms of training and racing, but I’ve still managed to spend a small fortune!
A couple of things to note…
- I haven’t included anything I pre-paid in 2019, such as triathlon coaching and race entry fees.
- Some of my race entry fees were refunded and some have been transferred across to next year.
- My biggest single expense was a bike which I bought second-hand from a member of my triathlon club.
- Online classes became more of a thing in 2020, I tried out several different instructors for yoga, pilates, strength and conditioning classes to try and support them while gyms were closed.
- I seem to have an addiction to Funkita swimwear!
- Triathlon doesn’t need to be this expensive, I have some tips on training and racing on a budget here.
So how much did I spend on triathlon this year?…. £4244.79!
I dread to think of how much more this would be if I had actually raced this year!
