#ShareYourOutdoors

One of the things I enjoy most about triathlon is the chance to get outside and explore. Whilst I think the indoor pool, turbo trainer and gym all have an important place in a training plan, it’s the outdoor activities which really fire my enthusiasm.

Last week, I noticed I’ve ridden over 2000 miles on my bike since I bought it. I’ve discovered many villages, back streets, forests and country lanes which I never would have experienced if it wasn’t for cycling. It’s really opened my eyes to the scenery I have right here on my doorstep in the UK.

Looking through my photographs of the brings back some amazing memories of time spent outdoors. Hiking Snowdon last April was an incredible experience which I’m excited to be repeating with a group of Outdoor Bloggers later this month. A love of the outdoors brings together likeminded people- I’m lucky to have met many new friends who enjoy running, cycling, swimming and walking outside.

Ireland never disappoints when it comes to natural unspoiled beauty, I’ve visited several times with my family and love the contrast between the rugged coastline and lush green mountains. The above photo is from the walk up to Glenevin Waterfall which is incredibly peaceful and tranquil.

The UK has some stunning coastline proving that your don’t have to go abroad for clean, wide sandy beaches. Running along a promenade with the cool, salty sea wind on my face and the sound of the waves lapping at the shore beats a treadmill session any day.

The Aspinall Foundation are asking bloggers to share their love of the outdoors to be in of winning one of three prizes. First prize is an overnight at Pinewood, a gorgeous 600-acre reserve set in the Kentish countryside. Second prize is a photography day with Port Lympne’s resident wildlife photographer. Third prize is a bespoke safari UK-style for up to eight people.

To enter, simply post four photos of your favourite nature spots or outdoor activities alongside a short blog post explaining the competition. Tag another blogger to join in and tweet about your blog post using hashtag #ShareYourOutdoors. Competition closes 31st October 2016.

I’m tagging Zoe at Splodz Blogz as I know she’s got plenty of gorgeous outdoor photos to share.
