Welcome to Paddle Paddle Pace, a blog celebrating all things triathlon!
I’m Lucy, I’m 37 and I live in Essex, United Kingdom with my husband Glen. I’m happiest when I’m outdoors swimming, cycling or running.
I started my fitness journey as a gym bunny, but it developed into a passion for endurance sport. After taking the plunge into triathlon in 2014, I’ve never looked back. Triathlon allows me to challenge myself, push my limits and get outside of my comfort zone. I’ve now completed 25 triathlons from sprint up to half-iron distance, plus many more multi-sport events.
Sport wasn’t always part of my life- in fact I hated physical activity at school. My journey began after I left university weighing 210lbs (95kg). Over the next few years, I lost almost 80lbs (36kg) through healthy eating and tried out a lot of different fitness activities until I found something I enjoyed.
Some of my biggest achievements since getting into endurance sport are:
- Qualifying to represent Great Britain at the European Age Group Championships
- Swimming the Arctic Circle from Finland to Sweden at midnight
- Coming 5th female in one of the world’s toughest triathlons- The Brutal Extreme triathlon half distance
I started blogging in 2013 to document my progress and it’s grown way beyond my expectations. I’ve had a lot of incredible opportunities through my blog and been able to connect with lots of like-minded people. I aim to inspire my readers to get active, embrace sport and set themselves challenges. I’m an ambassador for This Girl Can Essex- a local initiative to celebrate active women in Essex regardless of size, ability or experience.
I love hearing from readers, so please do get in touch-
Not that I’m a triathlete I do love to swim, bike and run and look forward to following your story
