Tri Training- My Week 5 & 6

I’m a little behind on my weekly training re-caps. This is how my training looked on the weeks leading up to my recent triathlons:

Monday
Rest
A rainy Bank Holiday after Glen’s birthday weekend called for a lazy day chilling out at home.

Tuesday
7 mile run
I’m starting to gradually build up my mileage towards the Royal Parks Half-Marathon, so I planned a 7 mile loop around my town. I had a few niggles in my knees, shins, ankles and feet throughout- the pains seemed to move around to different areas, but nothing so serious that I needed to stop.

Wednesday
Indoor Cycling class at Cycle Rhythm- 45 mins
Hot Pilates class- 60 mins
Double-bubble on the classes this evening! Glen and I followed up a class at Cycle Rhythm with a session of Hot Pilates. The class taught by Lilly Sabri was seriously tough- one of the most intense workouts I have had in a long-time! My core muscles were feeling those pulsing pilates moves for days after!

The concentration on my face!

Thursday
Indoor Cycling class at Cycle Rhythm- 45 mins
Four of my friends from the triathlon club finally made it down to check out a class at the studio. The competitive side of the triathletes really came out when they saw the leader-board at the front of the studio! Team Havering Tri smashed the leader-board with all of us finishing in top- 10 positions! I even managed to sign the team up for our Introductory Offer at the yoga studio!

Friday
1040m swim
The Oasis Sports Centre is a open-air swimming pool nestled in the heart of Theatre-land in London’s West End. I met Glen for a Friday evening swim. 40 lengths of the 26m pool brought me to just over 1km. I must admit I do find training in a pool a little boring- the endless up and down, up and down… As we were in the open-air I pretended I was on holiday somewhere hot!

Saturday
Rest
I took a rest day ahead of my triathlon on Sunday, but popped over to my local park to cheer on the Team Naturally Run girls who were taking on the Spitfire Scramble 24 hour relay race. Leah, Jen, Charlie, Katy, Nikki, Emma, Beki and Becs did amazingly well, winning trophies for their division! Think it was my sign which helped them…

Sunday
TriTogether Triathlon- 400m swim, 15km cycle, 5km run

Monday
Rest
I caught up with some friends who I’ve not seen in almost a year- how time flies! A well-deserved rest day in between two race days.

Tuesday
Lee Valley Aquathlon- 500m swim, 5.5km run

Wednesday
Hot Pod Yoga class

Thursday
Rest
Not such a restful rest day, as we began packing for our imminent house move.

Friday
8 mile run
My ‘long-run’ for the week at a steady pace, with thankful no pain in my legs.

Saturday
Swimming lesson- 1050m
Swim training with my triathlon club has started back again after a 4 week break over the summer. We had a fairly ‘easy’ session as many people were taking part in races the following day. We practiced 100m repeats with a short rest in between each interval.

Sunday
Tri for Life Triathlon- 800m swim, 32.5km cycle, 7.5km run
Re-cap coming soon
