Another week, another exciting new spinning studio opens in London.
This Wednesday, activewear brand Lorna Jane hosted an evening to celebrate the opening of Psycle– a fitness concept brought to life by the former CEO of Fitness First. The glamourous studio is based just off of Regent Street and officially opened it’s doors on 10th February. I was lucky enough to get a space on one of the classes and went along to check out the new studio.
I was immediately impressed by the size of the Psycle studio, upstairs has plenty of space for the reception area, Lorna Jane pop-up shop, changing rooms and shoe storage, with the indoor cycling studios located downstairs. The design of the studio has been well thought out- with graphic murals from I Love Dust adorning the walls, and bespoke furniture from London based artists- Psycle takes it’s interior design inspiration from hotels and restaurants rather than health clubs.
Cleated shoes were free to hire and this time I managed to get clipped in to the pedals with a little help! The class lead by programme director Tim, was a full body workout combining spinning with upper-body work using hand-weights. We cycled to a fast-paced and energetic playlist whilst clapping, punching and waving our arms along to the beat. It made a change to do a spinning class so focused on the upper body- usually my arms are left to rest on the handle bars. There was no emphasis on competitiveness and at one point during the class we were left to ‘freestyle’ deciding for ourselves the tempo of our cycling.
After the class we refreshed with a juice from Purearth, and browsed the Lorna Jane pop-up shop. With so much gorgeous activewear on display it was difficult to resist a purchase! We were also given fantastic goody bags including shampoo, Body Fit magazine, chia seeds, Propercorn popcorn and Rude Health granola.
Class at Psycle are usually £20 including the hire of cleats and towels. They are pre-opening timetable until 23rd February.
